Mulberry and Prince

Illustration, Identity extension, 2022

The brief

Mulberry & Prince, located on Bree Street in Cape Town, South Africa, is the cafe of two friends and co-owners, Cornel Mostert and Cynthia Rivera. The cafe takes its name from two streets in New York, where Cornel and Cynthia first met while studying at The Culinary Institute of America. Cornel and Cynthia approached us to make various designs for the cafe.

The solution

Our focus was to seamlessly extend Mulberry & Prince's existing brand identity through the creation of custom icons, illustrations, and collateral designs. To enhance the brand's visuals, we first introduced a complementary grass green alongside their existing pink. The icons were initially centred around food, but Emma's love for ducks inspired a series of Mulberry and Prince mascots. This added a cute element that we could play with, the ducks started appearing in various scenarios. The outcome was a good balance between playfulness and sophistication, reflecting the essence of the brand.
